Our RV Site Of The Month January 2013 – Camp Host Positions

We have to thank Jim’s brother and sister-in-law for this great camp host positions (and more) site. Though we are months behind in our site of the month post (sorry, life happens) we bring to you today the beauty of discovering, when searching for camp hosting jobs. If you are looking to be a campground host in the United States, you will love this site. It is so easy to search. Though there are advanced search options, we just pull the drop down menu to the state we are interested in, then use the “opportunity type” drop down menu and set it for campground hosts. To our surprise, very detailed opportunities appear, with everything you need to know. You can quickly search for the city/location of interest, see what amenities they will provide (some give free lodging on an rv pad PLUS pay), check the dates to make sure … Continue reading

RV Boondocking Locations Update – Boondockers Welcome

This is an important update to this boondocking post regarding Boondockers Welcome – Be My Guest RV Parking. The site, which has been growing by leaps and bounds, is an absolute must for those considering the cheap rv lifestyle. The list of members who allow free boondocking stays has exceeded 600. When you look at their map of locations, you can barely make out the continental US because it is covered in site markers. In addition, North America is saturated with sites as well…and even some around the world! You just cannot ignore this opportunity if you plan to experience rv boondocking. It is a membership site, but one year costs less than one night in a campground. If you have a boondocking site to offer, then it is $19.95/year or $44.95/3 years. If you don’t have a boondock location to offer, it is only $24.95/year or $59.95/3 years. The … Continue reading

Top RV Site August 2012 – NuRVers Builds An RVing Community

The message you see when you get to is: “Young Full-time RVers, Doing It Our Way” – and if you investigate the site you’ll find the fortunate disclaimer that “young” can also mean young at heart, which we usually fancy ourselves to be. We stumbled across this site a couple of years ago while looking up RV web sites, but have only recently signed up for a free membership. We were drawn to the premise of a social networking site for full-timers, and were intrigued by the whole hip, cool, new age approach (sorry for showing our age). NuRVers is the perfect site for any uncoventional rvers like us  – gathering those rving who color outside of the lines, not following traditional approaches to “living” in these modern times. The site is creating a community – a place for those living full or part time to get to know … Continue reading

Our Best RV Sites Pick For July 2012 – Technomadia!

Technomadia is the web home of Cherie and Chris, two full-time RVers who have a tremendously impressive site. They have been on the road together since 2006 and have been adding to their site as their technomadic lives continue. They started off in a small camper that they had specially designed and built so they could travel lightly, pulling it with a small SUV, and make a living doing what they loved – technology. You see, Chris and Cherie are two of those rare people that you realize the world needs more of – talented, smart, kind, funny, and spirited.   After deciding that they needed more space, they are currently living in a converted GM bus, and just passed the 1-year anniversary of the acquisition of their new home on wheels. Looks like they have a lot more room now, with beautiful photos to prove it, and it’s fun … Continue reading

RV Blog Of The Month For June – The Good Luck Duck!!

We received a great comment on a recent blog post from a couple of RVers who share our views on healthcare – and much more. As always happens when we meet another frugal rver, we meandered on over to their site and immediately felt at “home.” Their site, The Good Luck Duck, is so refreshing and full of links to scores of things those living on the cheap in an rv need to know. As it turns out, we do have so much in common – we all love cats, we all want to live a simpler, more focused life, we all have issues that seem to follow us around in our new lives (family? friends?) and we all live in old Fleetwood Bounder motor homes. Ours is named Joey, theirs is called the Good Luck Duck.  Why do we name inanimate objects? To make them more human, of course, and … Continue reading

Frugal RV Travel AND Boondockers Welcome – Our Picks For May 2012

Frugal RV Travel is a home-grown and owner-operated website that focuses on “Adventurous And Affordable RV Travel,” and it’s our RV site of the month for so many wonderful reasons. One big reason is that not only does the site offer some of the most helpful information on rving you will find, they also created another site that shares an extensive list of free boondocking sites. So our May 2012 Site of The Month is actually TWO, compliments of one fantastic couple who are devoted to helping other rvers just like us.   The owners and operators are Randy and Marianne, a Canadian couple who live in southern Ontario half the year and rv around the North American continent the other half. Their site features loads of great information about how to travel on the cheap and live frugally while doing so. They themselves roam the countryside in a Class … Continue reading

April 2012 “RV Site Of The Month” – Cheap or Free RV Campgrounds

Nothing is as important, when living the frugal rv living lifestyle, as finding cheap or free lodging as often as you can. If you plan to stay in one place for a long time, you will usually have to budget for a monthly rate somewhere given most people will eventually need power, water hookups or septic access. However, when we travel long distance, like our normal run from Glacier Nat’l Park, Montana to Illinois, we do all we can to avoid those expensive, nightly rv park rates along the way. That is where comes in. When planning our route, we always go to this site first to make sure that we plan stops in affordable camping areas. How many miles we drive per day depends on where our affordable sites are located. Along our route, once we get further east, the free campgrounds in the direction we’re headed begin … Continue reading
